CSLB Consumer Alert: Don't Pay Too Much Money Upfront on Home Improvement Projects

Except for a limited down payment, it is against the law for a contractor to collect payment for work not yet completed, or for materials not yet delivered. This applies to home improvement projects. Read the full alert here.


CURES Version Update

As of August 1, 2024, all California dispensers of controlled substances are required to report dispensations to the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) using the American Society of Automation in Pharmacy (ASAP) version 4.2B format. Please visit the Office of the Attorney General's CURES Website for information on this required change.


Expedited Licensure Application Processing for Servicemembers Enrolled in Skillbridge

Beginning July 1, 2024, boards and bureaus under the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) must expedite licensure application processing for service members currently enrolled in the U.S. Department of Defense SkillBridge Program. Name and Gender Change Notification and Request for Confidentiality (SB 372, 2023)

Effective January 1, 2024, under Business and Professions Code section 27.5, licensees may notify the licensing board or bureau within the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) of a name and/or gender change and request confidentiality of the previous name or gender information, when meeting certain specified requirements.
